Join Allison McDonald Ace, freelance writer and expressive writing workshop facilitator, for an inspiring and uplifting evening of writing dedicated to discovering your authentic voice through the power of writing and sharing of story. As women, our voices are often silenced and our personal stories stifled–whether by our own insecurities, the tribes we move in or the societies we live in. And yet it is in honouring those unique voices and embracing those personal stories where the greatest source for empowerment and healing can be found. The truth is, we each have a story worth telling.
Allison learned this first-hand when her feelings of shame, isolation and suppression were lifted and transformed after she wrote publicly about the story of her late-term miscarriage. Not only did sharing her story help her to heal, but it helped so many others to know they were not alone. Inspired by that experience, Allison developed this workshop to offer the same opportunity of sharing and community to women from all walks of life with their own secrets and stories that have gone untold for too long. Because to shed light on those stories and bring them out of hiding is an act of bravery and love that will open the door to healing, liberation and self-empowerment.
This workshop does not require any prior experience with writing and has nothing to do with spelling, grammar or style. Rather, it will teach you to use writing to uncover what stories need telling and to meet your inner voice–perhaps for the first time–on the page. You will be gently guided to let go of the intimidation that comes with expressing yourself and learn to own the experiences that have defined you.
