She holds international certifications in Kundalini yoga – including advanced certifications in: authentic relationships, vitality and stress, conscious communication and pre and post-natal yoga (all as taught by Yogi Bhajan) and Hatha yoga. Mary has taught a wide range of people in all walks of life. Along with her classes at Lotus, she has taught anxiety-reducing and relaxation techniques to those with cancer and oncology nurses at the charitable organization “Wellspring”. Mary has practiced Buddhist meditation in the Vipassana and Zen traditions in India and at the Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh’s Monastery in France. She has found these practices to be particularly transformative and beneficial – for her personal life and teaching of yoga/meditation. Mary holds a Bachelor of Arts from Queen’s University with a focus on Biology, Psychology, French and Art courses. She is also a classically trained dancer and choreographer with an extensive background performing internationally on stage and film. Her dance background enables her to bring great creativity, precision and fluidity to her teaching of yoga. While Mary teaches several celebrities, she recognizes the importance of equally valuing every human life. With her understanding that we are all deeply interconnected and all face the challenges and joys of being human, Mary enjoys reaching out to people in all walks of life. She is passionate about the powerful way yoga and meditation transforms people and is devoted to guiding others towards greater health and happiness. *Mary is currently writing a book on the pilgrimage she took to Thich Nhat Hanh’s Monastery in France, to be published by: Hampton Roads Publishing, San Francisco, in the fall of 2012. Jane Loney: Yoga Teacher, Shiatsu Therapist, Traveler
Inner peace = freedom.
Wherever I may be in the world I feel at home when I practice yoga. When I can help people feel better physically through teaching yoga or giving shiatsu treatments I experience happiness. Helping others gives me peace of mind. In my life I am mostly doing exactly what I want and in that there is a sense of unbridled freedom and joy. I love to experience the world in all it’s glory.
My most influential yoga teachers include: Ron Reid and Diane Bruni of Toronto’s downward dog yoga centre; Danny Paradise; Richard Freeman; countless amazing yogis around the planet; and of course, my students who teach me daily.
