Join us for a deep introduction to mindfulness meditation, taught over two weekends at Lotus Yoga Centre.
This introductory course is a mix of teaching, guided meditation, mindful journaling, Q&A discussion and interactive exercises with an expert in mindfulness meditation. Har-Prakash Khalsa has over 30 years of experience in meditation and has been teaching mindfulness meditation for 15 years. Participants will be supported in home practice with eight one-hour group conference calls between weekends.

- have access to online class video (great for visual learners) and guided audio meditations between weekends and after the course
The course includes:
- 2 weekends at Lotus Yoga Centre to deeply introduce you to mindfulness meditation (18 hours)

- audio meditations for home practice
- videos of material from each weekend for review
- homework and self-assessment checklists to keep you on track
- 8 1-hour conference calls with Har-Prakash to assist you in integrating and optimizing your mindfulness practice (1 call per week for 8 weeks)

This course is the first of five modules offered by Har-Prakash. If there is enough interest, we will continue to offer the next four modules at Lotus Yoga Centre, expanding from mindful awareness to mindful living, mindful loving, and finally to integrating enlightenment and the jewel of mindfulness. The whole course empowers participants to integrate a mindfulness that is comprehensive, wholistic, fulfilling, purposeful and practical. Participants will benefit immensely by learning the building blocks of mindfulness in this first module.

About the Teacher
Har-Prakash Khalsa started his meditation training in 1984, at the age of 24, at a Korean Chogye Zen temple (with Samu Sunim) in Toronto. Further in-person training, study and practice includes Kundalini Yoga (Yogi Bhajan), Vipassana (Goenka), the Mahasi Sayadaw Burmese Noting method (Philip Starkman), the Jhanas (Leigh Brasington), Rinzai Zen (Sasaki Roshi), Hakomi (Dyrian Benz) and Native American Inipi Ceremonies (Vern Harper, amoung others). He has participated in several neuroscience studies, including as an adept meditator in the 2012 Harvard Mindfulness study designed by David Vago and Shinzen Young as part of the Mapping the Meditative Mind project. Har-Prakash identifies as polyspiritual and takes inspiration and wisdom from many spiritual traditions.
Since the year 2000 Har-Prakash has trained intensively in an evolving secular mindfulness system developed by Shinzen Young. Shinzen is a wonderful, brilliant, polymath scholar and masterful mindfulness teacher who has combined the best of what is common in the contemplative traditions into science-friendly teachings, tables and formulations. In his course, A Deep Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation, Har-Prakash shares what he has learned from Shinzen – a system of meditation that includes many options at any given point between the surface and the source of consciousness.
Har-Prakash is currently developing a comprehensive online mindfulness training program and workbook. Har-Prakash is also a Kundalini Yoga Teacher Trainer and artist. He is based in Owen Sound, Ontario.
