Class Schedule

Guidelines
When attending classes at Lotus Yoga Centre, please observe the following guidelines to ensure a pleasant, rewarding experience for yourself and the other participants.

  • Arrive 10 minutes early to allow yourself time to sign-in and get ready for class. Wear comfortable lightweight clothing (natural fibres is recommended).
  • Yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach. It is recommended that you not eat 2-3 hours before class. Inform the teacher prior to class of any serious existing health conditions, back, neck, or joint injuries, recent surgery, high blood pressure or pregnancy.
  • For women, when menstruating, it is advised to refrain from practicing “breath of fire”, “root lock” (squeezing pelvic floor muscles) and inverted postures. Menstruation is considered “apana” (the body is eliminating; downward flow) whereas the above techniques encourage upward flow of energy.
  • For the comfort of all participants, please refrain from wearing perfume in class. Please turn off all cell phones and pagers before entering the studio.

8:00 am – 9:30 am – Kundalini yoga with Mary (level 1&2)
6:00 pm – 7:15 pm – Yoga Nidra with Leigh - yoga-nidra-for-stress-relief-and-good-sleep *starts March 2012 (sign-up)

Wednesdays
5:45 pm – 7:00 pm Kundalini yoga with Angela (level 1)

Thursdays
8:00 am – 9:30 am – Kundalini yoga with Mary (level 1&2)
7:30 pm – 8:30 pm – Yoga for Core Strength with Jelena – yoga-for-core-strength *starts March 2012 (sign-up) 

Saturdays
9:30 am – 11:00 am – Kundalini yoga with Mary (level 2)

Sundays
9:30 am – 11:00 am – Kundalini yoga with Mary (level 1&2)

Class Descriptions

Kundalini Yoga (Level 1)
These classes include all the basics of the powerful “awareness” increasing practice of Kundalini yoga Pranayam, kriyas and meditation at a deep, challenging level.

Kundalini Yoga (Level 2)
These classes include a phyisically challenging and invigorating yoga practice combined with a deeper emphasis on philosophy and meditation – enhancing happiness, physical strength and mental power.

Stress-reducing Yoga by Candle Light (all levels)
Deep stretching of the body, relaxation techniques and meditations with the use of specific vibrations and music to reduce stress, enhance mood and alter brain chemistry.

Yoga Workshops
To deepen your personal practice and delve more deeply into the philosophical and practical daily application of the powerful tools of yoga to transform your life. Check - www.lotusyogacentre.com for workshop times and descriptions. *pre-registration required.

Kriya Yoga Flow (all levels)
Each class will be 1 of 3 dynamic, yet meditative asana flows 1: gratitude (Bhakti) 2: Trust (Shrada) 3: Inspiration (Divya). They include all the subtle aspects of yoga : mantra, mudra, bandha, chanting and recitation of spiritual scriptures. The shakti (energy) of each kriya sequence  flows through the  practitioner like a celestial song channelling pranic flow towards the specific state of consciousness that is intended. A 15 min. yoga nidra relaxation completes this class.

Kundalini Yoga at lunch (1 hour classes – dates TBA)These noon hour classes include all the basics of the powerful “awareness” increasing practice of Kundalini yoga in a condensed time of 1 hour for the busier yogi. Please note – there are no lunch hour classes currently running.
